Alicia Rice - Diaries of a Dead Woman

Alicia Rice always knew she was going to be a writer. I had the wonderful opportunity to sit and talk with her

about her writing and what influences she had.

SD. Thank you for sitting down with us. I know the first thing our readers want to know is how did you get your start?

AH: Well, I have been writing since I was 8 years old. I wrote poems and short stories. About 2 years ago my High

School Teacher asked me about my writing. I told her I was still writing short stories. She suggested that I write a

novel. I hadn’t really thought about writing a novel, but after talking with my teacher I decided to try it, and here we

are!

SD. What was your first novel?

AH: The first one was “Fatal Marriage” and the second was “Diaries of a Dead Woman”. I’m currently working on

my 3rd novel now called “Epiphany”.

SD: How did you get your first novel published?

AH: Well I self published through a website called “lulu.com”. They are pretty easy to use. I would encourage any

aspiring writers that are having trouble finding a publisher to try and self publish first. It allows you to have a say in

how your book is marketed and put out.

SD: So how did “Diaries of a Dead Woman’ come about?

AH: I actually wrote this story first. Some of the things that occur in the book have happened to me. You know like

little snippets of my life. This book took me about 3 months to write. Actually I wrote it when I was 17 years old.

SD: Well I can tell you that after reading your book, “Diaries of a Dead Woman” I would never have known that you

wrote that book when you were 17 years old. It was wonderful and I know that

anyone that picks this book up at Barnes and Noble or Books a Million or at

Amazon.com will not be disappointed.

AH: Thank you so very much! I am so very happy that you liked it and I hope

everyone will enjoy the snippet included in the magazine!

SD: I’m sure they will. Thank you for sitting with me and allowing our readers to

get to know a little bit about you!

AH: Thank you, it was my pleasure!

SD: See our website www.sensational-diva.com for a short preview of "Diaries of a Dead Woman"

Authors Alicia Rice & Shelia Lipsey: MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

Saturday, September 29, 2007 - by C. A Webb

The events over this past weekend meant more to me than I could ever express. After everything that people have said, either out of jealousy or ignorance, the book club that I founded just 10 months ago has grown into a force that can't be denied. We hosted our 20th author LIVE AND IN PERSON this weekend. OUR 20TH! How many other book clubs can say that? And I bring that up not to pat myself on the back, but to say that regardless of what people may SAY, it is your ACTIONS that speak louder than anything else.

This all began for us on Thursday when the "Subway Conversations" book club met to discuss Lipsey's book SINSATIABLE.

On Friday, we were joined by Ms. Rice and her family and embarked on the journey of the day that began at 9:30a.m. and took us until 7:00p.m. that evening. Thanks to those at Medgar Evers Library, the Jackson Advocate, Ms. Bridges' two classes at Pearl High School, Subway Restaurant in Pearl and Waldenbooks Metrocenter for making it an awesome day!

On Saturday, we began bright and early at Richard Wright Library and from there traveled to Waldenbooks Metrocenter for a signing and then back to Richard Wright for a meet and greet. The day ends with "Spoken Word Saturdays" @ Subway.

We appreciate the support of Shelia E. Lipsey who made her second trip to Mississippi THIS MONTH to support us. And to Alicia, we appreciate you sharing your story with us, and allow Conversations to add to your history by seeing to your book being made available to your fans thanks to Waldenbooks in Jackson, MS.

There is no stopping the power behind Conversations Book Club and its mission to get others addicted to books. We thank all of you for your support and look forward to your being a part of our success in the world.

Large In Charge - July 2007

Plus Sized Author Alicia Rice
With two books out the gate Ms. Rice has shown that hard work and determination will reap rewards.

This talented lady is one to watch, I believe this is only the beginning for her.

Her writing style is one that keeps you entertained. It is a nice relaxed read that you can take your time and enjoy.

Ms. Rice is a shining example to all plus sized people that when you have a dream, take it into your hands and do whatever is necessary to bring it to reality!
