Alicia Rice always knew she was going to be a writer. I had the wonderful opportunity to sit and talk with her
about her writing and what influences she had.
SD. Thank you for sitting down with us. I know the first thing our readers want to know is how did you get your start?
AH: Well, I have been writing since I was 8 years old. I wrote poems and short stories. About 2 years ago my High
School Teacher asked me about my writing. I told her I was still writing short stories. She suggested that I write a
novel. I hadn’t really thought about writing a novel, but after talking with my teacher I decided to try it, and here we
are!
SD. What was your first novel?
AH: The first one was “Fatal Marriage” and the second was “Diaries of a Dead Woman”. I’m currently working on my 3rd novel now called “Epiphany”.
SD: How did you get your first novel published?
AH: Well I self published through a website called “lulu.com”. They are pretty easy to use. I would encourage any
aspiring writers that are having trouble finding a publisher to try and self publish first. It allows you to have a say in
how your book is marketed and put out.
SD: So how did “Diaries of a Dead Woman’ come about?
AH: I actually wrote this story first. Some of the things that occur in the book have happened to me. You know like
little snippets of my life. This book took me about 3 months to write. Actually I wrote it when I was 17 years old.
SD: Well I can tell you that after reading your book, “Diaries of a Dead Woman” I would never have known that you wrote that book when you were 17 years old. It was wonderful and I know that
anyone that picks this book up at Barnes and Noble or Books a Million or at
Amazon.com will not be disappointed.
AH: Thank you so very much! I am so very happy that you liked it and I hope
everyone will enjoy the snippet included in the magazine!
SD: I’m sure they will. Thank you for sitting with me and allowing our readers to
get to know a little bit about you!
AH: Thank you, it was my pleasure!
SD: See our website www.sensational-diva.com for a short preview of "Diaries of a Dead Woman"
